<\/figure>\n\n\n\nI have always loved photography.\u00a0 For me, photographs are the moments frozen in time.\u00a0 When looking at a still image, I am captivated by its power.\u00a0 How could this power have such a great impact on the audience? I think the audience themselves are actually the ones who give life to the still images.\u00a0 The notion of photographic truth is to capture motion in stillness.\u00a0 Motion and stillness is in fact, a relative concept, or perhaps it just depends on the position and perspective of the observer.\u00a0 The way I see it, isn\u2019t cinematography choreographing lights and shadows? Then isn\u2019t the lights and shadows in itself a dance?\u00a0 So, for me, ‘Jumping Frames\u2019 has a crucial role in providing an alternative approach to experience dance.\u00a0\u00a0 In the cinema, on a flat screen, in a specific time and space, I wish the audience could experience the same ephemeral performativity of this year\u2019s festival selections as of a dance performance, and feel the dance within.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
How do you appreciate dance? Perhaps it\u2019s your physical participation or to allow the resonance of your souls.\u00a0 Ask yourselves if the images affect your emotions?\u00a0Is there something that moves you from inside out or outside in?\u00a0I firmly believe that every body and soul has their own dance.\u00a0Film doesn\u2019t necessarily have to be narrative centric\u00a0and dance doesn’t necessarily have to be performed on stage\u2026\u2026The moving image is more than just images, it\u2019s more than the body, it\u2019s more than time.\u00a0It\u2019s about sentiments and if it touches your heart.\u00a0Perhaps that\u2019s the real meaning of motion pictures – that moves you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
