The director was a 23 year old dancer who began her search for identity as a young woman, while embracing her dreams, she was bound by the unbearable burden of expectations imposed by her mother and grandmother about love and marriage. As a choreographer, she uses film medium to initiate a dialogue with her own body, to question her doubt with brutal honesty. The raw cinematic work and introspective nature in this first fulllength documentary featured Mengqi’s genuine performance with boldness. The film is also an oeuvre for the director transiting from a dancer to an award winning documentary film auteur who made 10 feature documentaries till today.
