Lapse is investigating an unpredictable space between reality and vision. Melati Suryodarmo drew inspiration from the chaotic social structure which appears in our daily environment. The illogical rules which the society creates in order to survive the oppressed situation is one of the failures under the common agreement. Between the vision of the future and reality of the now there is a potential of failure which is covered by idealism. In Lapse, Melati creates patterns of movements which navigate the dancers to connect by failures – yet to collectively attempt a new structure and alchemy of senses.
