Blending science, dnace, film and music into a memorable experience of moving image and live performance.

Award-winning New Zealand choreographer Corey Baker is commissioned by Random Acts for Channel 4 and digital development organisation The Space to make the first dance film in Antarctica. This programme brings you to the spellbinding Antarctic throungh the Asain premiere of the documentary film and live performance.

Taking cues form the austere beauty and fragility of the ice and snow structures, the short film Antarctica: The first Dance is performed by Madeleine Graham, star of the Royal New Zealand Ballet, on the stunning yet demanding ice planes of the Antarctic in February 2018. The documentary Dancing on Icebregs charts the two-year process in making this film, witnessing how the geographical backdrop and the freezing temperatures of -2 to -16°C impacted and shaped Baker’s work, while the live dance performance Ice Sheet – newly created by Baker with two dancers – unleashes the imagination combining high octane dance and stunning visuals.
